Construction Underway on Third of Four DCC Buildings

An even larger complex, Dakota Commerce Center North, is expected to take shape nearby in 2024.

FARGO — In the summer of 2021, Minneapolis-based Hyde Development began constructing the first of four large buildings planned as part of the Dakota Commerce Center project in north Fargo.

Now, two of the four buildings have been completed and work has started on a third, according to Paul Hyde, CEO of Hyde Development, who said an even larger complex, Dakota Commerce Center North, will start taking shape in the same area in 2014.

At its inception, the Dakota Commerce Center was expected to cost about $53 million, but the cost is now expected to be $72 million once work is finished, Hyde said.

Once built, the four structures that make up Dakota Commerce Center are expected to provide about 633,000 square feet of warehouse space designed for bulk distribution of goods.

The site of the project at 3701 40th Ave. N. is just south of the Amazon Fulfillment Center, which is about 1.3 million square feet in size, roughly twice the size of what the Dakota Commerce Center will be when all four buildings are completed.

Hyde said the first building, completed in 2022, and the second building, completed in April 2023, are occupied by Marvin Windows.
